The boiler plant at Weber State University provides steam for heating to the majority of campus buildings. The Weber State University Boiler Replacement included the removal of two outdated boilers and the addition of one new 30,000 lbs/hr steam “D” type boiler. The new boiler included a dual fired, natural gas and #2 oil burner. Project also included the design and installation of a new combustion air and ventilation system, new oil fuel piping and oil pumps, new steam, condensate, boiler feed water, chemical treatment, and blow down piping.
The boiler was also outfitted with updated controls as well as a new emergency shut-down system. The existing boilers contained asbestos and abatement was required and coordinated as part of the project.
