Utah County Corrections Community Center
This was a remodel of an old 42,500 sf Boy Scouts of America building that was converted into a youth correctional facility. The existing building had a mix of roof top units, furnaces, unit heaters, and other systems. These were all removed and a new VAV air handling unit system with boilers was added. There were structural challenges with the roof so the AHU’s were mounted on the ground. There was a new kitchen added to serve the residents which required makeup air and exhaust. With the addition of more plumbing fixtures the whole plumbing system was also redone throughout the building. There were structural challenges with the roof so the AHU’s were mounted on the ground The roof did not have secondary roof drain so a new secondary roof drain system was designed and implemented during construction when it was determined that the whole roof needed to be replaced as part of the project. We were a consultant of AJC Architects for this project.
